Birds of a Feather

9"x12"
Oil on linen panel

This was fun, pulling out some of my "old stuff," and throwing in a beautiful birds' nest that Joe rescued for me.  The old ammunition box is one that belonged to Joe's brother, Steve Prchal.  Edges of it have appeared in a number of my paintings.

  1. This is wonderful, Dicksie! There are so many glorious textures and you have captured each of them beautifully. The suface of the box and especially the lettering on it are perfectly rendered. The fabric drapes naturally. The nest and vase are great textural contrasts -- again both rendered so well. And the overall sense of depth is just right. It's a delightful arrangement, and another example of how well you paint the still life. Super job, Dix!

  2. This is stunning. The background alone is pretty amazing. You've got that realistic look. I know how much effort this takes. Good Job! Fabulous painting.
